5 Tips To Boost Your Fall Skincare Routine

Oh, fall! Time for changing leaves, warmer clothes and cooler days. As we know, any change in weather calls for skincare adjustments, and as soon as the temperature drops, our skin lets us know all about it. Skin tightness, dryness and seasonal breakouts can really put a dampener on the changing season. No problem, here are some quick tips to help transition your skincare routine, to help repair summer skin and get it feeling fine right from when the first leaf falls.

1. Switch to a more moisturizing cleanser

As temperatures plummet, humidity levels do too, and our skin loses moisture to the dry air around us. Make the first move and outsmart moisture-loss by swapping your light cleanser for something a little more hydrating. A micellar cleansing water can help hydrate parched, sun-kissed skin, and support your skin's barrier to help protect you from the damaging effects of the cold weather to come. A rinse-off cleanser, like Simple® Moisturizing Facial Wash, will leave skin clean without feeling dry or tight.

2. Pick a skincare booster

We may still be dreaming of those balmy summer days, but all that sun, chlorine and salt can mean dull, dry, dehydrated skin come fall. Time for some TLC. Always put your moisturizer onto skin right after cleansing? Try adding a booster. Think of it as an additional skincare step to help support your skin during changing seasons. Us? We reach straight for the Simple® Water Boost Hydrating Booster, which includes a plant extract (called *PENTAVITIN®) to help increase your skin's hydration levels—plus it comes in a travel-friendly tube and has a lovely silky texture. Winning!

3. Don't freak out if you break out

Changes in weather (humidity levels and changes in temperature) can sometimes cause our skin to get upset and become dry. Try a mask with aloe and multi-vitamins, which can help instantly hydrate and help soothe stressed skin. We like to use Simple® Kind to Skin De-Stress Sheet Mask once a week to help keep skin feeling calm.

Can’t decide which mask best suits your skin? Multi-masking might just be for you. Tailor which mask you use to target specific skin concerns and you can get rid of oiliness in your T-zone, hydrate against the drying effects of UV rays and moisturize dry patches all at the same time!

4. Swap your moisturizer for something richer

Once you've soothed and smoothed your post-summer skin, it's time to help build up your skin's barrier before winter arrives. We've heard it before, but adding a richer moisturizer to your routine is a quick way to help skin out during changing seasons. If you still love your lighter lotion, just switch it up once a day-and pick something richer for nighttime like Simple® Water Boost Skin Quench Sleeping Cream.

Lips are often the first to feel the cold (hello, chapped and flaky!). We like to put an extra bit of moisturizer on our lips and then follow up with a rich barrier balm. Lips still flaky? Use a washcloth to buff away dead skin before you moisturize and get ready to pucker up.

5. Smarten up your travel skincare

Dashing off on a fall holiday somewhere fun? Take a moment to think about changing temperatures, colder climates, hard water, and how they're going to impact your skin when you travel. City getaway? Don't forget your SPF (yes, even though it's fall!). Traveling somewhere snowy? Dehydrated skin can increase when you're in colder climates, so pack more hydrating products. Limited luggage? Facial cleansing wipes are our go-to cleansing saviors, always.
