How to Hydrate Your Skin
Water: the (not so) secret elixir to good health - don’t we know it! But, when it comes to hydrating our skin, are we quite as clued-up? Humidity, hard water, air conditioning, and our diet can all play a small part in sapping vital moisture from our skin. No panic, there’s help! From a hydrating face mask (don’t mind if we do) to the best way to apply a hydrating face cream, find out how to hydrate skin with these tips.
1. Hand-pick kind ingredients
Checking the ingredients in our fave yoghurt is a no-brainer, but what about in our skincare? Look out for things like harsh chemicals which can strip moisture from the skin, leaving it feeling parched, dry, and dull. Not sure where to start? Pick products that keep it kind and include skin-loving ingredients like PENTAVITIN®, Pro-Vitamin B5, Vitamin E, Jojoba Oil, and Glycerin.
2. Moisturise, moisturise, moisturise
Moisturiser is a must for helping keep skin hydrated, and our lipid barrier feeling happy – we know it! So, why not make your moisturiser work a little harder for your skin?
First up, apply it within a few minutes of stepping out of the bath or shower - this way you don’t lose excess water from your skin.
If richer creams leave your skin looking a little shiny during the day, night-time is the best time to slather them on.
Try a moisturiser like Simple® Water Boost Skin Quench Sleeping Cream, it’ll help rehydrate and replenish your skin while catching up on those Zs.

3. Give your skin a water boost
When our skin’s barrier is weak, our skin can lose moisture and become dehydrated, which means it can be hello to redness, breakouts, tightness, and dryness.
While you can help support the barrier with the right skincare, it’s also a good idea to boost hydration in your skin. How? First up, keep drinking – yep, we know, but the more we drink, the better hydrated (and bright and clear-looking!) our skin will be.
Then, try adding on a topical hydration helper like Simple Water Boost Hydrating Booster. This includes ingredients like a plant extract (called PENTAVITIN®), which is well known to boost moisture levels in your skin cells.
The best part? Skin will feel plump, it’ll provide instant relief for dry patches, plus the hydration won’t wash away!
“Add some mint and lemon to your water to spruce up the taste – it’ll make it easier to get sipping!”

4. Defy dehydration with a hydrating face mask
Sometimes, a real boost is what dehydrated skin is after. A hydrating face mask applied once a week can help keep your skin’s hydration levels high, and leave skin feeling plump and smooth.
5. Eat and drink your way to hydration
It’s true - we are what we eat, so stock up on water-filled foods and drinks, and keep hydrated from the inside out! Watermelon, cucumber, and tomatoes are a great place to start, with Omega-3 (think salmon, tuna, and chia seeds) hitting high on the hydration list too. Stretched for time? Pop a few of your fruity picks in a daily smoothie so you can sip your vitamins (and water!) in one, delicious go.

So there you have it! Although dehydration can be a little pesky, knowing how to hydrate your skin is easy with a few helpful tips. From popping on a hydrating face mask for a quick boost, or making the most of your hydrating skin cream, you’re all set to ensure your skin feels happy.
